There’s something magical about a challenge that pushes your creativity just a little, and this week’s Craft Roulette Episode 293 did exactly that! The wheel gave us four fun parameters:
✨ Book-Fold Card
✨ Sandwich Shop Colors
✨ Music
✨ Wrapping
At first glance, it’s a quirky mix… but once I started pulling together textures, tones, and this adorable little hedgehog image, everything clicked into place. Today I’m sharing a step-by-step look at how I created this cozy winter card with plaid patterns, warm neutrals, a golden frame, and a soft touch of ribbon-wrapped charm.

🍞 Using “Sandwich Shop Colors” Sunshine Style
When I think of a sandwich shop, I picture kraft paper bags, toasty bread tones, creamy deli whites, pops of red (hello ketchup), leafy greens, and classic checkered patterns.
For this card, I used:
• Deep green plaid (like a deli sandwich wrapper!)
• Kraft + beige elements
• Gold foil (toasted bread warmth)
• Red berries for subtle holiday accents
• Cream ribbon
It feels rustic, wintery, and warm, even with just a few colors.
🎵 Adding the Music Element
The focal panel features the cutest hedgehog surrounded by winter greenery, but the magic detail is subtle: the background is printed on faint sheet music. It’s soft, elegant, and fits the holiday theme perfectly without competing with the image.
Tip:
When using busy backgrounds, choose muted or low-contrast music sheets so the focal element still shines.
📘 Creating the Book-Fold Base
A book-fold card instantly adds charm!
To make it:
- Cut your cardstock to 4.25″ × 11″
- Score at 4.25″ and 3.25″
- Fold on both score lines
- Adhere the 1.25″ side panel shut
This creates a sturdy spine, just like a mini book and it’s the perfect spot for adding ribbon or decorative wrapping.
🎁 The Wrapping Parameter
For the random “wrapping” prompt, I tied soft ribbed ribbon around the spine of my book-fold.
It’s simple. Elegant. Cozy.
It gives the card a festive “gift-like” look and it ties the entire design together.
✨ Framing the Hedgehog
To elevate the focal panel, I used a gold postage-edge die-cut frame. The shine adds that holiday sparkle but still maintains a rustic, woodland feel when paired with the plaid background.
Layer your panel with foam tape for instant dimension.
Everything looks more magical with a little lift!
🦔 Finishing Touches
The “Happy Holidays” sentiment sits perfectly above the hedgehog’s head, framed by soft music lines.
I placed the gold frame over the plaid background, added the hedgehog panel inside, then finished everything off with the ribbon-wrapped spine.
It’s warm.
It’s sweet.
It’s festive.
It’s very Sunshine Stamper.
