One of my favorite things to do as a maker is take the exact same supplies and completely rethink how I use them. This thank you card is a perfect example of that. If you saw yesterday’s card, you’ll recognize the stencils right away. Same two stencils. Totally different card.
Yesterday I used the Petal Pop Stencil with shimmer paste on acetate and stenciled the Luxe Lattice Stencil directly onto cardstock with ink. Today I flipped the approach entirely. The Petal Pop is heat embossed on acetate using Altenew’s Golden Peach Crisp Embossing Powder, and the Luxe Lattice is done with Shimmer Relief Paste in Rose Gold on a panel of Crafty Necessities Pink Sand Cardstock. The acetate panel sits popped up over the stenciled layer, giving the oversized daisy that soft, dimensional lift you can actually see from the side.
The warm blush tones of the Pink Sand cardstock paired with the rose gold shimmer paste create a really cohesive palette, and the heat-embossed acetate layer catches light in a way that reads almost iridescent in person. It’s one of those cards that photographs beautifully but somehow looks even better when you’re holding it.
For the sentiment, I used a scripted “thank you” die cut layered with a black sentiment strip that reads “My heart is filled with gratitude.” The black grounds the soft palette and gives the card some contrast and structure. Finishing it off are Black Onyx Gem Sparkles, which tie the black elements together and scatter just enough sparkle across the petals without competing with the sentiment.
This is really a case study in how much creative mileage you can get from a small supply collection. Two stencils, one paste, one embossing powder, one cardstock, and a few embellishments, and you can land in completely different places depending on how you approach the tools. I love that about stenciling.
